Tanks

The tank had a fasanating role in World War 1. The idea of the tank came from a development of farming vehicles that would allow people to cross harsh and difficult land with great ease. This new invention was unreliable but, it cause fear to soldiers they were against. These machines first appeard at the battle of Flerscourcelette in September, 1916. This was the first time tanks were used in combat. In 1918, Britain and France had produced 6,506 tanks. Germany only produced 20 tanks.

These monsters during ww1 caused terror to many soilders. But it was very unreliable and had downsides. First, It got very loud inside, due to the guns and the cannon right by they're ears. They were very slow, thus vulnerable to anti-tank weapons. They were unaccurate. And they could only cross certian kind of terrain. Also it was very cramped to the point till the crew members would smoke on the fumes, there tracks would constantly break down in the middle of the battlefield leaving them vulnerable. There wasn't many good sides of the tank since it was first brought into combat, but it could provide heavy covering fire.It could also act as a moving shield for infantry. Soliders would retreat because they didn't know how to stop till later in the war. Finally it would clear the way for infantry and other vehicles.
